ShivaNova is a cutting-edge world music company with an international reputation. We are an ensemble of musicians from around the world, led by composer Priti Paintal, who blend urban and folk, jazz and ambient sounds with influences from Indian, African, Caribbean and Western music. We celebrate cultural diversity through music as well as through other art-forms including storytelling, dance, visual art and projection, circus and theatre. EQUATOR was set up by ShivaNova in 2007 as a promotional arm of the company. It promotes and tours high quality international world musicians and dancers from all over the world in its series of concerts and events in London as well as in areas of Kent. It is also looking to bring artists from other countries to tour in the UK and also for artists and performing groups here to tour in other parts of the world. Venues and regions it is promoting include Royal Festival Hall, RichMix in London, and Maidstone, Folkestone and Ashford in Kent.

Our current productions include Secret Chants with Tibetan monks chants, Flying High featuring an outstanding line up of leading Asian and jazz artists and video installations, and Sundance, combining live contemporary and classical Asian dance from the Creative Dance Company with ShivaNova's unique mix of classical with jazz.

ShivaNova also deliver an extensive programme of workshops for young people: Indian classical and folk music, vocal improvisation, classical Indian dance and singing, DJing and mixing. At present we are engaged in a range of different educational residencies around the country, the most significant being the 'Girls Only Global Orchestra' project in Gravesend, London, and Birmingham. We are always interested in looking at developing projects alongside any performances that we might be able to offer so if you are a venue, festival or event that is interested in our work, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are able to offer both touring productions as well as smaller tailor-made performances.
