We are delighted to announce the long awaited line up for Equator’s summer 2010 event at the Quarterhouse, Folkestone, on Sat August 28th.

Dear Equator mailing list members -

Equator world music series has once again joined with Folkestone’s Quarterhouse to bring you more outstanding international artists to Folkestone and Kent.

Presenting the passionate and uplifting rhythms of African group Kasai Masai performing traditional and ancestral sounds of remote equatorial African villages combined with a contemporary and urban twist they picked up on their journey.

“…the sound of the old and the new…from deep in the heart of Africa” Womad

Kasai Masai are a five piece band led by Nickens Nkoso. Playing ancestral music which has been passed on from generation to generation, their sound is rooted in the healing power of percussion and singing combined with the majestic Congolese guitar and jazz saxophone.

Kasai Masai’s lyrics reflect the cultural diversity of a region where more than four hundred languages are spoken.
